Harnessing cutting-edge technologies, Parametrix revolutionised community engagement and communication for the Druid’s Heath regeneration, a landmark project set to redevelop thousands of homes into a thriving, future-ready community.
The Druid’s Heath regeneration project posed a distinct challenge, using innovative technologies to bridge communication between stakeholders and the local community. As a large-scale redevelopment, it required clear, accessible engagement strategies that could convey complex plans to a broad audience.
Introducing virtual and augmented reality tools into this process was both ambitious and untested, demanding a careful balance of innovation and clarity. The project also needed to demonstrate effective use of PropTech funding from the Department for Levelling Up, adding further pressure to deliver measurable, impactful results.
Parametrix delivered a suite of innovative digital tools that transformed stakeholder engagement for the Druid’s Heath regeneration project. We developed immersive VR experiences based on the architectural masterplan, deployed via Meta Quest 3 headsets at in-person events, successfully engaging both senior stakeholders and younger residents.
Interactive AR totems were installed throughout the neighbourhood, projecting future designs through smartphone-accessible visuals and bringing the redevelopment vision to life. A dedicated website, www.druidsheathtogether.co.uk, served as a live project hub, while real-time analytics tracked public interaction and informed ongoing engagement strategies.
Parametrix played a strategic role in the Druid’s Heath regeneration, going beyond technical delivery to ensure the full value of PropTech funding was realised. Our integration of VR, AR, and a dynamic online platform created powerful tools for inclusive communication and transparent engagement.
These technologies reached a wide demographic, helping residents understand the redevelopment vision while giving Birmingham City Council meaningful insights into future applications. Despite the challenges of adopting emerging tools, the project delivered user-friendly, impactful solutions that now serve as a benchmark for digital innovation in regeneration and community engagement.
